Common Questions and Answers:

Do players need to be invited to try out?

· Anyone can come to try-outs; you do not have to be invited.

What about players who aren’t placed on a team?

· Players who are not placed on a Toros team will receive a full refund for registration.

What are the age groups for Toros teams?

· Teams are formed of players aged 7 to 17 (player age on July 31, 2010).

What are the time and travel requirements?

· Players will train twice a week. Days and times of training are set by the team coach.

· Games are played on the weekend. Each team will play 8-10 games per season.

· Games are played within the Piedmont district and Columbia area.

· Each team may decide to participate in tournaments and/or State Cup competitions.

Why do we need to pay the $100 on June 1st?

· This payment is going to the TEAM – not the club.  This is the first TEAM payment.

· Teams need to register by July 15th and have struggled in the past with having funds before the season starts.  PMSL teams need to write checks for $850 for registration & team bonds.

· Show of commitment - club administration and team managers spend countless hours tracking down families during the summer break for commitment and fees.

· Financial commitments are being advertised early so families can make plans.

How much does it cost to play Toros soccer?

· All players pay a registration fee of $75 ($100 if registering after deadline).

· Uniforms are approximately $100. We typically wear the same uniform for two years, so players might get multiple seasons out of their uniform cost, depending upon when they join.

· Each team has a budget, depending upon the number of players and the league that the team plays in, of $350 - $450 each player per season.

What if we want to play, but are going to struggle with these costs?

· The Club wants everyone who wants to play to have a way to do so.  At the same time, there are costs to running the teams.  The teams also need players/families that are committed to the team and will make all the practices and all the games.

· Scholarships are encouraged for those with need.  A Toros Scholarship covers the training fees during the season (normally $300).  Scholarship players need to still pay registration ($75 by May 7th and $100 by June 1st) and first team fees.  Scholarship forms will be available online and at registration.  They must be filled out and turned in prior to or at registration.   If there are any questions or concerns – email your concern with your phone number and we will call you.  Everyone should play if they really want to!!

· If a family is sincerely interested in further reducing their out of pocket expenses, they should write to info@TorosSoccer.net for methods to gain Sponsorship from the club.  Work items may include, grass cutting, weed whacking, building painting, construction, field maintenance, field line painting, bath room maintenance, opening/closing the fields for games, collecting trash, setting out/collecting the trash containers, managing teams, organizing fundraisers, etc.  These are all items that the club either has volunteers do and/or pays someone to complete.
